This award forms part of a project to improve the quality of tourist destinations promoted by the Ministry of Tourism (SET), with the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which works with tourist companies / services from up to 32 different trades, with the overarching objective of improving the experience and satisfaction of tourists.

SICTED is a methodology that provides a comprehensive and permanent system for the management of quality in a tourist destination, in a new concept of the expected results, a focus on continuous improvement, and the goal of recovering and enhancing resources and space. Peñíscola has around 30 companies and public services that boast this recognition thanks to their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to quality.

Besides these services, the destination as a whole is itself recognised as a tourist destination integrated into this system, together with the Museu de la Mar, the tourist information centre, and tourist guides.
